Armenia holds the highest rating of condemning abortions, premarital sex and homosexuality

Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty published an infographic image depicting the results of 2017 Pew Research Center report on «Religious Belief and National Belonging in Central and Eastern Europe». According to the research, 69% of Armenians reject abortions, 79% are against premarital sex, and 98% condemn homosexuality. All three ratings are the highest among 18 countries where surveys were conducted. Armenia also have the highest ratings of condemnation of usage of drugs (96%), prostitution (96%), and drinking alcohol (62%).

The paper also reports that 67% of Armenians think in ideal marriage both spouses should work, look after children and home, while 32% (second highest rating) said husbands should work, and wives should look after children and home. 92% (highest rating) said they would not accept Muslims as members of their family.

The survey was conducted in 2015 and 2016 in 18 countries of Central and Eastern Europe.

Pew Research Center is a think tank based in the USA. The surveys in Armenia were conducted by a partner organization, Georgian Opinion Research Business International (GORBI).
