Eurasian Intergovernmental Council Meeting in Yerevan

The members of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council discussed IT, internal markets operation, trade, power industries and infrastructure issues during the meeting in Yerevan on October 25th. One of the key directions of negotiations concerned elimination of restrictions in the internal market of the EAEU in 2018-2019. The members also discussed initiatives for implementation of the EAEU digital agenda.   

Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Tigran Sargsyan announced that uniform rules are meant to be developed for driving licenses. The topic is vivid since Russia adopted a law banning work with driving licenses issued by foreign countries. This caused difficulties for those Armenians who work in Russia.

The members of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council were received by the President Serzh Sargsyan earlier today. The President also met with Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev on October 24th. Medvedev announced that trade turnover between two countries increased by 30% from January to August 2017. “In practice, there is no sphere we currently do not cooperate in”, - said Medvedev.

The meeting of Eurasian Intergovernmental Council hosts Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Karen Karapetyan, Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev, Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Sapar Isakov, Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev and Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Tigran Sargsyan.

Eurasian Intergovernmental Council is Eurasian Economic Union agency consisting of prime ministers of member countries.
