Major Armenian Opposition Parties Join Nikol Pashinyan

Major Armenian opposition party “Prosperous Armenia” joined the protests lead by Nikol Pashinyan and “Elk” alliance. Naira Zurabyan, one of the leaders of “Prosperous Armenia” announced today that she sees Pashinyan as Prime Minister of Armenia.

Leader of “Heritage” party Raffi Hovhannisian, leader of OEK Artur Baghdasaryan and many other political figures expressed their solidarity with the protesters.

The protests started in Armenia on April 13, after the ruling Republican Party nominated Serzh Sargsyan as its candidate for the position of Prime Minister. They continued after the special session of the Parliament where Sargsyan was elected.

On April 23, first deputy PM Karen Karapetyan met with Nikol Pashinyan; soon after that Serzh Sargsyan resigned.

On April 25, new wave of protests started in Armenia to oppose acting Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan who is likely to take the position.
