Armenian, Azerbaijani foreign ministers meet in Geneva

Armenia Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov on 2 October in Geneva. Mirzoyan during the meeting reiterated Yerevan’s demands of Azerbaijani troops’ withdrawal from the occupied territories and release of prisoners of war, the Armenian Foreign Ministry’s statement says.

The Armenian foreign minister also underlined that the war crimes perpetrated by the Azerbaijani armed forces should be duly assessed by international organizations and the criminals brought to justice.

“The sides exchanged views on the peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, ensuring the rights and security guarantees for the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh, including through the establishment of a discussion mechanism between Stepanakert and Baku,” the Armenian Foreign Ministry stated.

The Armenian and Azerbaijani foreign ministers also welcomed the “mutual understanding on unblocking of the regional transport routes under the sovereignty and jurisdiction of the respective countries.”

It is worth to remind that on the same day Nikol Pashinyan on his twitter published a post on a video circulated earlier, showing a group of Armenian POWs being summarily executed by Azerbaijani servicemen. “Such acts of violence should be addressed properly, with consequences for the aggressor,” the tweet reads.
