Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan had a telephone conversation with Leo Docherty, the UK Minister for Europe on 28 September, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a readout.
Mirzoyan drew his interlocutor’s attention to the consequences of the military offensive carried out by Azerbaijan against the people of Nagorno-Karabakh on September 19, targeting settlements and civilian population, which led to mass forcible displacement of the population of Nagorno-Karabakh, the readout says.
Mirzoyan also stressed the crucial importance of clear assessments and excluding further cases of use of force through effective use of relevant mechanisms by international partners and structures. Foreign Minister of Armenia emphasised that Azerbaijan continued its practice of use of force despite assurances to the contrary voiced by Baku.
“Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia stressed the imperative to restrain the attempts aimed at destabilising the region and the provocations against territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Armenia, in this context emphasising the UNSC mandate,” says the Armenian Foreign Ministry readout.
