Armenian Prime Minister discusses Karabakh situation with EU envoys

Armenian Prime Minister on 22 September received European Union Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia Toivo Klaar and Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Vassilis Maragos. The interlocutors discussed the situation Artsakh and steps for overcoming it, a press release by the Prime Minister’s office said.

 

“Both sides underscored the need for guarantees ensuring the security and rights of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh,” the press release said adding that the current situation on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border was also discussed.
Both sides also discussed the Armenia-EU cooperation. 

Earlier on the same day Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan received Toivo Klaar and Ambassador Vassilis Maragos.

During the meeting, regional security following the recent escalation in Nagorno-Karabakh as well as the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, the Defense Ministry said in a readout.
