In honour of the Armenian film master Sergei Parajanov's 100-year profound legacy, over 40 Armenian fashion designers will showcase exclusive pieces inspired by the artist's timeless work.
From May 18 to 31 Sergei Parajanov Museum will host “Parajanov and Fashion” exhibition brought to life by the Fashion and Design Chamber NGO. The exhibition promises to make history by paying a grand centennial tribute to the father of major gems in cinema, such as 'The Color of Pomegranates' and 'Shadows of the Forgotten Ancestors'. As suggested by the title, “Parajanov and Fashion” fuses 20th-century Armenian art with contemporary fashion, empowering Armenian designers of diverse backgrounds to transform the space through costume and accessory designs that reflect Parajanov's artistry.
During two weeks from May 17 to May 31 the exhibition invites the public to an exceptional journey to the filmmaker's world reimagined through the lens of Armenian fashion guaranteeing all attendees an unforgettable experience and endless inspiration.
The exhibition is a wonderful opportunity to present Armenian fashion with a combination of art, as well as to arouse interest in Armenian designers and products among tourists visiting our country. In this way, the consumption of Armenian-made products and the fashion sector, which has a huge potential in our country, will be promoted.
The initiative is supported through the Private Sector Development and Technical Vocational Education and Training in the South Caucasus Programme implemented by GIZ on behalf of the German Government.
