Carnegie.ru: How Karabakh Could Bring Russia and the West Together

Historian Sergey Markedonov’s article published at Carnegie Moscow Center website suggest that Nagorno-Karabakh is the only post-Soviet conflict where Russia and the US are ready to work together. Both countries hesitate to do so, even though if they unite efforts there may be a high chance on regulating long-lasting conflict.

Quote: “Only the Karabakh dispute does not qualify as a piece in the geopolitical contest between Russia and the West. Even after the Georgian-Russian war of 2008, American diplomats welcomed then Russian president Dmitry Medvedev’s mediation efforts.”
