Foreign diplomats briefed on consequences of Azerbaijani aggression in Gegharkunik region

Armenian Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures Gnel Sanosyan briefed on 29 September diplomatic corps representatives on the damages, caused by the recent Azerbaijani shelling at civilian targets in Gegharkunik province, Armenpress reports.

Diplomats visited the Kut town hall building, the local school and clinic which were shelled by Azerbaijani forces.

“It is clear that they tried to deliberately target specifically civilian infrastructure,” Sanosyan said during the briefing.

He also showed pastures of the village which have become unusable due to steady risk of targeted fire by Azerbaijani units.

Russian ambassador Segey Kopirkin was among the diplomats visiting the border areas, who addressed some questions by journalists.

To the question on Russian efforts to establish peace he said “We believe that only political and diplomatic efforts can bring about a resolution.”

Answering a question on the possibility of supplying Russian weapons to Armenia, the Russian diplomat said he was not ready to answer it but said that it “should be done by professionals”, adding that the issue “belongs to the sphere of allied relationship”.

It is worth noting that earlier the same day Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan speaking at a cabinet session said that in some cases “100 millions of dollars have been paid, but the weapon supply obligations are not being fulfilled by the suppliers, including our allies”.
