Improving Financial Literacy of the citizens

HSBC Armenia organised an Open Day event within the framework of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy. The aim of the event was to improve financial literacy among the citizens of Armenia and increase awareness about banking services and products.

Around 100 people attended the event and asked questions to HSBC Armenia staff about effective management of finances and savings, protection of consumer rights, banking products’ risk assessment and management, cost optimisation, and much more.  

 

 

Aram Pinajyan, Deputy Chief Executive Officer/Chief Risk Officer at HSBC Armenia says, “Promoting financial literacy is one of the strategic priorities of HSBC Group. We will make sure that this kind of events will be of continuous nature. These events boost public confidence in financial services and help citizens to take more informed decisions.”

HSBC prioritises financial literacy as an essential tool for success in the modern world. Since its establishment in Armenia in 1996 HSBC Armenia has implemented and supported different projects aimed at improving the financial literacy of school and university students, such as “English and Employability Skills for Career Development” in partnership with the British Council and “Student Entrepreneurship Skills” with the Junior Achievement of Armenia. Moreover, in one year period HSBC employees also volunteered for 1800-hour financial literacy training sessions in the regions of Armenia.
