Moscow to decide Karabakh peacekeeping mission’s fate in talks with Baku – Peskov

Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said at a briefing on September 29 that the issue of the continued presence of the Russian peacekeeping contingent in Nagorno-Karabakh will be clarified in negotiations with Azerbaijan.

“It is still difficult to talk about what will happen next with the Russian peacekeeping mission in Nagorno-Karabakh, since we are talking about actions on the territory of Azerbaijan,” the Kremlin official said, adding that it will be “a matter of further discussions in negotiations with the Azerbaijani side.”

Peskov also noted that the issue of concluding a peace treaty between Baku and Yerevan remains relevant.

“It is definitely relevant. In addition, there are plans, of course, to develop transport communications and logistics in the region. This is extremely important for Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Russia. We hope that this work will be continued,” Peskov said.
