Mystery of Forests Charitable Concert

On November 18 at 19:30, renowned pianist Hayk Melikyan will give a special piano concert in the Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall, dedicated to the creation of a new 100 ha forest in Armenia honoring the legendary Charles Aznavour.

With the general sponsorship of AraratBank, all ticket sales will directly contribute to planting the Charles Aznavour Forest, which will be a lasting tribute to honor his legacy on the occasion of his 100th anniversary celebrated this year. This concert marks the start of a series of fundraising events to reach the stated goal. The Aznavour Foundation became the first enthusiastic supporter of this project by donating 14,000 trees representing around 5 ha.

“Charles Aznavour is in the hearts of millions of people in Armenia, France, and everywhere in the world, and we want to give everyone the opportunity to participate in the creation of a forest holding his name. It will become a symbol of the eternity of his name, legendary songs, and of supporting our country and planet. We are thankful to Aznavour Foundation and AraratBank for their quick response and enthusiastic and generous support,” - said Andre Gumuchdjian, founder and director of My Forest Armenia.

"Charles Aznavour was not just an artist. He lived with universal pain, which was constantly reflected in his songwriting and interviews. Thus, in the song "The planet is dying" (La terre meurt), Charles Aznavour addresses the pollution of the Earth by humans and other environmental problems.
As the bearer and spreader of its values, we at the "Aznavour" Foundation are convinced that environmental initiatives are extremely important and urgent. We enthusiastically accepted the idea of establishing a forest named after Charles Aznavour and made the first investment. We sincerely hope that other organizations and individuals will join as well," stressed Christina Aznavour, executive director of the "Aznavour" Foundation.

"The establishment of the forest named after Charles Aznavour is of particular importance to us, as it combines the preservation of cultural heritage and the creation of environmental values. As a long-term partner of "My Forest Armenia", we consistently contribute to the greening of Armenia, and this initiative becomes another significant stage of our cooperation. It is noteworthy that on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Aznavour, we are creating a living, growing monument that will expand and bloom year by year, symbolizing the immortal legacy of the great artist. I am sure that this piano evening will become an important step towards our ambitious goal of establishing a 100-hectare green monument." said Mher Ananyan, CEO and Chairman of the Executive Board of AraratBank.

The concert program includes pieces by Georgi Gurdjieff and Leos Janacek, both synonyms of vibrant and inspirational music. The concert will feature a new piece specially created for the occasion by a young composer Elen Yolchyan titled “Mysteries of Forest”. Hayk Melikyan will perform a few improvisations on Aznavour’s music.

Ticket prices range from 3000 to 20.000 AMD corresponding to 3 to 20 trees planted. To buy tickets, visit tomsarkgh.am or the official website of Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra․ Those who cannot be present at the concert can also contribute to the Charles Aznavour forest by making a donation on My Forest Armenia website, marking “Aznavour” in the field “in honor of”.

This concert is the first in the “Music for Forests” series launched by My Forest Armenia. It will become a regular event featuring high-quality music concerts that support the creation of new forests in Armenia.
