Pashinyan holds phone call with European Commission President

Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen held a telephone conversation, the Prime Minister's press service reported on 2 October.

The interlocutors discussed issues related to the situation resulting from the forced resettlement of Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh, the regional situation and the Armenia-EU cooperation agenda.

The interlocutors agreed to continue discussions within the framework of the summit of the European Political Community, which will be held in Granada this week, the report said.

On the same day, the Prime Minister of Armenia received a Cypriot parliamentary delegation led by the Chairman of the Cyprus-Armenia Interparliamentary Commission of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Cyprus, Harris Georgiades.

Nikol Pashinyan highly appreciated the level of inter-parliamentary cooperation and political dialogue between the two countries. The Prime Minister emphasized the fact that the House of Representatives of Cyprus had adopted a resolution on the illegal blockade of the Lachin corridor and thanked the MPs for the clear assessments.

Harris Georgiades condemned Azerbaijan's policy of ethnic cleansing against the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh and emphasized the importance of humanitarian support from the international community to the forcibly resettled population of Artsakh. The Chairman of the Cyprus-Armenia Interparliamentary Commission emphasized Cyprus' support for the protection of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Armenia.
