Central Electoral Commission has announced the preliminary results of the city council elections held in Yerevan on 17 September.
According to the preliminary results, published on 18 September, the ruling Civil Contract party leads the race with 32.57 % of all votes. There are four more parties who have managed to cross the 5-percent electoral threshold. The parties to be represented in the City Council, apart from the leader, will be as follows: National Progress Party with 18,89 %, Mother Armenia bloc with 15,43 %, Republic Party with 11,32 % and Public Voice Party with 9,68 % of votes.
The September 17 Yerevan City Council election was marked by record-low voter turnout. Only 234,553 (28,46%) of the 824,250 eligible voters cast their ballots.
