UN's response to Artsakh situation “too little too late” - Armenian Foreign Minister

The UN response to the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh has been late and insufficient. This statement was made on October 4 by Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, at the request of deputies, commenting on the visit of the UN mission to Nagorno-Karabakh.

It should be noted that the UN mission visited Nagorno-Karabakh on October 1, when almost the entire Armenian population fled, hastily leaving their homes.

According to him, Armenia has been appealing to various international organizations for months, including the UN, where the issue of Nagorno-Karabakh was discussed in the UN Security Council.

“Unfortunately, we did not receive an adequate response, and this was also stated,” the minister noted and expressed hope that the statement made would not become the UN’s final reaction to what happened.

“As far as I know, a statement from the agency that conducted the mission is being prepared. And the conclusions that were presented were not made by this agency. At least I was assured of this,” Mirzoyan added.

In his speech, he also emphasized that ethnic cleansing obviously took place in Nagorno-Karabakh, however resolving conflicts by force is unacceptable for Armenia.
