According to the source, the leaders of the two states discussed the practical implementation of the trilateral agreements between the leaders of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan on Artsakh dated November 2020, January and November 2021. A telephone conversation was held also between the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Russia. Ararat Mirzoyan and Sergey Lavrov discussed “the current security situation in the region", as reported. Besides, on August 1 a phone conversation was held between the Armenian Foreign Minister and US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Karen Donfried. The interlocutors touched upon matters of regional security, the normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations and the conflict in Artsakh. All those conversations were held against the background of announcement by the Artsakh Defense Ministry on Azerbaijani Armed Forces’ attempts to break through the Armenian defense lines located in the Russian peacekeeping force’s zone of responsibility.
